Your Wellbeing Matters

Anne created Owenby Physical Therapy out of a desire to help individuals with complex conditions and multiple chronic conditions that require personalized, one-on-one attention and a caring medical professional that is familiar with their conditions.

Anne's Story Began

Anne’s younger sister, Katie, was born with Pfeiffer Syndrome, a rare craniofacial condition that required her to have 15+ major surgeries during her first 16 years of life. While Pfeiffer syndrome primarily impacts the face, this condition has impacts on the whole body. Anne saw personally the difference a caring and knowledgeable medical professional could make in patients’ lives. Pfeiffer Syndrome is a rare condition that not all medical professionals have heard of, but to even have a medical professional who was willing and eager to research and learn more about her sister’s condition was a big reassurance to her sister and their family.

Anne may not be familiar with every condition, but she is always willing to research and learn. That is how Anne first started treating hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD) and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS). During her clinical rotations while earning her Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from FAMU, she came across multiple patients complaining of widespread joint pain, fatigue, and frequent dislocations/subluxations. She became curious about these patients’ conditions and began to research to learn how best to help these patients.

Her Journey So Far

Anne now has over four years of experience treating patients with Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD) and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and other common co-morbidities including Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). She works with her patients to create custom treatment programs to address their individual needs and goals. She has completed the EDS ECHO program, attended UVA's Ehlers-Danlos Research Symposium, and plans to attend the Ehlers-Danlos Society 2026 Global Learning Conference July 24-26. Anne has not yet personally treated patients diagnosed with rarer subtypes of EDS, such as vascular EDS, but is open to treating patients with any subtype of EDS. She is continually researching all subtypes of EDS, common co-morbidities, and best treatment practices. She is passionate and unyielding in her mission to learn everything she can about EDS in order to best serve her patients.

In addition to HSD/EDS, Anne treats many other complex conditions. She is familiar with treating Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CPRS) and central sensitization.

Anne is also certified through the American Institute of Balance to treat vestibular conditions and concussions (AIB-VRC certification).
